IKEA Hack: Reclaimed Redwood Sideboard/Buffet

Hello Fine Peeps – We have been busy designing and building furniture pieces – a reclaimed redwood sliding barn door and a reclaimed redwood wrapped 9 foot sideboard. Both pieces used our old redwood from the original house. This post will focus on the IKEA hack using 2 smaller media units. We will start with the IKEA hack – 2 TV media cabinets we put together, reinforced underneath and fully wrapped with wood. We added mid century peg legs and Bioshield hard wax to finish it off:) FINISHED PIECE:   Faith...

Crutching

So as it turns out my 40+ year old knees have provided me with some down time and a much needed break from the brick and mortar, butts in seats, 9-5 job that I have been accommodating since we have returned from our Airstream travels in 2013.  As you know, we returned to Alameda in Sept. 2013. I (Brenda) had been offered a promotion that would mean our vagabond lifestyle would need to be curtailed for a bit.  We became very interested in small footprint living and found our tiny home in Alameda (originally 483 sf)… hopefully you have...

We Are Moving into the House!!

The time is finally here… we have final inspection today and we start moving in this weekend. Brenda and I installed the cable railing by San Diego Cable Railings. Learn more about SD Cable Railings and our other sponsors here.  Now some pics. The darker wood for the handrail and bottom are original to the 100 year old house. The handrails are from 2×4 rafters and the bottom wood is from the 1×10 walls. Beautiful old redwood. The painting is also finishing up. We are using baby blue – “haint blue” on the...

Trailermade brings you adventure by renting an RV, Travel Trailer, Camper Van, or Destination Spot through community. You can stay in a stay(ionary) location, play tow/drive to the destination of your choice, or Park-It, park on a campsite, land, or driveway....

Tiny”ish” House Update: A little of this and a little of that

So it has officially been a year since we started the tiny”ish” house renovation. We took a 100 year old 500sf house and have been slowly transforming it into an 812sf open concept dream come true. We are currently finishing up a bunch of small projects – interior trim, back deck rough framing, bathroom tile, reclaimed wood wall in the bathroom, putting up a few fixtures… We wanted to show the progress so far, so here we go. The electrical panel is in with mast and weathered connected – just waiting for city...
