Introducing SMEG – our newest sponsor

Smeg Black Logo

We are super happy to announce SMEG appliances as a sponsor for our tiny house remodel.  Smeg is an italian home appliance manufacturer that has hit the U.S. market running.  For over 60 years now, Smeg appliances have come to be seen as tasteful and elegant solutions to the demands of contemporary living as a result of the company’s partnerships with world famous architects.  They are donating a retro fridge and discounting a gas range, hood and dishwasher (all energy efficient). Thanks Francesca and Smeg!

You can check out their sustainability platform here – green policies.

  1. Smeg frigs are gorgeous and I would love to get one. But they are WAY too expensive for what you get ($2K). They only really appeal to Manhattan types that need to put a frig in their Pied-a-terre.

And they’re approaching the US market in the wrong way. They should sell direct to the public which would allow them to get it down to a decent price. Selling through retailers is the wrong way to go in a world of social media and the ability to spread the word about unique items, at the speed of light.

  2. Hi Dan –
Thanks for writing. Just checked out your site and like your story. Good for you and your family! I hear what you are saying. We are working with their US marketing department and I will pass along your comment. That being said we like their appliances and are excited to use them in our remodel. Cheers.

  3. Oh man — I just googled, “Smeg Airstream” and found this !! Congrats on such an awesome sponsor — it’s my DREAM to put one of these in the Airstream but I am pretty sure they don’t make a two-way (lp/110v) version. Do you know???

    xoxo Monica

    • Hi Monica – thanks for writing. Yes we are also psyched to be using SMEG appliances. They will go in our tiny house remodel. I am not sure about putting them in an Airstream. Great idea – it would look great but not sure it would travel well or if they have the 110v like you are saying.
